I am a history teacher at West Potomac High School in Fairfax County, Va. I teach AP World History and an elective in World Religions. I also write two blogs, one on World History and another on World Religions. PBS Teachers Lounge recently published an essay I wrote about teaching students to appreciate religion and resist intolerance. And the Classical ideas Podcast featured me in January 2019 discussing the consitutionality of teaching religion and resources for teaching religion in public school.
The purpose of this site is to digitize the resources that I have discovered over the years and some of the lesson plans I use with those resources. One feature of my World Religions class is video conferences through Generation Global. Founded by former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Generation Global helps facilitate video conferences for students from different countries to engage with one another on cultural and religious topics, including festivals, the environment, and wealth and poverty. In 2016, Voice of America did a story on a video conference my students had with students in Indonesia. You can watch the story on the right. Email me questions or comments to [email protected].
